HOW FINEX CEBU CAME TO BE…

August 6 – August 28, 1987

• A series of meetings were held among the core group members organized by Bong Maglaque, Ruben Almendras, Ben Dapat, Mario LuDo, Joy Dompor of Daito Philippines, Wilson Gaw of Gaw Trading, Jose Ng of Hanover Worldwide Trading Corp., Enrique Abellana of City Savings Bank and Gerry Sta. Ana.

• A final list of 40 members was drawn up after a thorough review of their qualifications and interest in joining. The final draft of the Articles of Incorporation and By- Laws were also circulated to the prospective members.

August 28, 1987

• Ben Dapat chaired the election committee that oversee the election of the first set of directors.

• Pete Polo was made chairman of the nominations committee.

September 11, 1987

• The election of the 11 directors was held at the Cebu Country Club.

• The following were elected:

September 12, 1987

• The elected directors convened to elect the officers as provided for by the By-Laws.

  • • President - Gerry Sta. Ana

    • Vice President - A. Maglaque

    • Secretary - V. Satorre

    • Treasurer - M. Lerin.

• The final Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were passed around for the signature of the incorporators and charter members. 

• There were a total of 15 incorporators and 40 charter members. 

• The complete official name of the association: FINANCIAL EXECUTIVES INSTITUTE OF CEBU, INC.

September 21, 1987

• The first board meeting was held at the Cebu Country Club

October 6, 1987

• The officers and directors were formally inducted into office by Cebu City Mayor Antonio Cuenco at the

Cebu City Hall.

November 20, 1987

• The induction of the charter members and the first General Membership Meeting was conducted and attended by majority of the board members of FINEX Philippines.
